In Jurassic Park, the Dilophosaurus is one of the dinosaurs bred by InGen for its park on Isla Nublar. It remains hidden during the visitors' tour, only to emerge later that night as Dennis Nedry struggles to free his Jeep. Smaller than many of the park's other predators, the Dilophosaurus initially appears curious and playful rather than threatening. The film's Dilophosaurus features mottled green skin, two prominent crests, and a broad skull that gives it a distinctive raptor-like appearance. Its brightly colored neck frill unfolds and rattles like that of a frilled lizard when it prepares to attack. It can also spit venom, much like a spitting cobra, targeting its prey's face to temporarily blind it before moving in for the attack. Nedry mistakes the creature's curiosity for harmless behavior and tosses a stick, hoping it will chase after it.
